On April 2, 2019, the Diocesan Administration held a meeting between Metropolitan of Smolensk and Dorogobuzhsky Isidor with participants in the international project for the development of youth cultural and educational tourism "Pearl Necklace of Holy Russia." Volunteers and curators of the project spoke about a trip to Vitebsk, during which work was carried out to create a tourist case of the city and a presentation of the project at Vitebsk State Medical University.
The meeting with the archpastor was attended by the head of the “Pearl Necklace of Holy Russia” project, the head of the Smolensk Diocese Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, the parish priest of the Church of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, Archpriest Valery Ryabokon, the project curators from the Smolensk Diocese of Smolensk State University clerics of the Smolensk diocese, students of universities participating in the project. .
Opening the meeting, Archpriest Valery Ryabokon spoke about the implementation of stage 1 of the project “Pearl Necklace of Holy Russia,” which began in late 2018. During this time, the site of the youth tourist project was created, a tourist case of the city of Smolensk and a presentation video about Smolensk were prepared (shooting and installation of a photo and video operator of the project Denis Artemenko). At the moment, work is underway to create a tourist case of the city of Vitebsk. And of course, one of the important results of the project is friendship - today, students and curators are a team of like-minded people, connected by an interesting and useful common cause.
Metropolitan Isidore thanked the guys for their active participation in the project.
“This work, it seems to me, enriches you personally, spiritually and culturally, and intellectually,” said the archpastor. - Anyone can see the results of your collective work. You have wonderful mentors. And I am ready in every way to help you all be together, get real pleasure from communicating with each other under the auspices of the Church. And our common task - the clergy, church people - is to convince today's young people that the Church is not a space of stagnation of thoughts and feelings, but the most progressive phenomenon in our life, for that is the direction where there is good, happiness, joyful communication with each other can not be regressive. Our common goal is to make the world a better place. Everyone in their life journey, personal space can make a contribution to the achievement of this goal. And together we can do even more. ”
In the course of the meeting, the participants watched the backstage of the presentation video about Smolensk, discussed the results of the trip to Vitebsk, clarified the work plan and tasks of each participant for the near future.
The next step will be a trip to Polotsk - another of the six cities included in the “Pearl Necklace of Holy Russia”, and the creation of a tourist case of this ancient city.
